It will invariably happen at sometime during the life of your toilet that you go to flush it and oops! it fails! The first thing to do after uttering many expletives is to give the toilet a really thorough visual check, just to see if there is anything obviously wrong, of course that will probably not be the case so you should do is initially remove the cistern lid and check inside. Kilburn Plumbers can replace diaphragm washers.

If all still looks ok and the handle mechanism and associated parts seem to be in order, then, it will more than likely be down to a failure of something a little more closer to the water outlet. The diaphragm washer is probably the culprit. So you need to isolate the water supply to the cistern and empty by flushing. Draw out every remaining drop of water. The siphon now needs to be lifted from the body of the cistern (if you have any doubts take a photo as you dismantle). To complete this action you will need unhook the linkage to the lever arm, if the arm of the float operated valve gets in the way, you may need to remove this also. Now having removed the siphon you should now be able to see beneath the base and place where the old perished diaphragm washer sits. A Kilburn Plumber can do any plumbing job. Take off the hook on the shaft that pulls the diaphragm, this will allow the diaphragm housing to drop from the siphon base. Fit the new washer, re-fit the parts in a reverse order (refer to photo if you took one). Re-establish the water supply and check for leaks. Each jointing washer needs to be in a serviceable condition, but if not, simply wrap some PTFE tape around the joining parts (not the threads).
